Thought For Every Day – Monday 12th May 2025
Inspirations
Today, the 12th of May, we remember our former student, Albie Leak, who passed away on this date in 2020, five years ago.
Albie was a very good-humoured, kind, passionate, popular, positive and respected student of T.B.S.H.S.
This was especially seen in Sport, particularly at House sporting events, where Albie was the heart and soul of “The Black and Gold Spirit”, always wonderfully showing, and encapsulating, T.B.S.H.S.’ values of commitment, aspiration, respect, integrity and community.
Albie was a brilliant, honest and humble character, leader and team player.
As part of his tribute at the time, Headteacher Mr. Reeve stated: “Albie was a cracking young man, always well-behaved, honest and friendly.”
Albie is always, and will always be, remembered by The Bishop’s Stortford High School, and all those he so very profoundly inspired.
Most appropriately, an award, named after Albie, is given to a Year 11 student who has demonstrated excellence in Sport at T.B.S.H.S. An outstanding person remembered in, and by, an outstanding area of the School.
From Heaven, truly good, inspiring, outstanding and wonderful people, who inspire us, and have inspired us, beyond words, are always with us, and always will inspire, and guide, us with their true goodness. Their unique Legacy of Love continues.
We always keep Albie, and Albie’s inspiring, outstanding and wonderful family in our very deepest and most sincere thoughts, and prayers, today, and each and every day.
We also take this important moment to greatly recognise Albie’s brother, Freddie, who left the School last year, as we did on Year 13 Leavers’ Day 2024 in this message, and Albie’s and Freddie’s friends.
Freddie’s achievements at T.B.S.H.S. were, and are, also brilliant, excellent, exceptional, inspiring, legendary and outstanding: in GCSE and A-Level performance; with extra-curricular contributions, particularly in Rugby; and as a character, leader and person in school and in life.
In November 2024, it was great pleasure to talk with Freddie and two fabulous and fantastic friends of Albie and Freddie, Dan and Zak, by chance, in Bishop’s Stortford. These now three former students of T.B.S.H.S. were thoroughly engaged, humble, polite and respectful. They were, and are, an absolute credit to themselves, and to their families. They talked respectfully, and thoughtfully, of T.B.S.H.S., their new careers and their favourite football team.
Albie, Freddie, their family and their friends were, and are, the very, very best.
The photograph below of The Bishop’s Stortford High School on London Road was taken on the 5th of June 2020, the date of Albie’s funeral.
We will always be inspired by Albie, Freddie, their family and their friends, at Beaumont Avenue, and beyond.
