TBSHS Supports Ukraine
Donations for Ukraine & collection
In keeping with the School’s service to charity, our Interact group (Supported by Bishop’s Stortford Rotary) has been holding events to help Ukrainian refugees over the last two weeks.
A non-Uniform day raised the fantastic amount of £2328.29 to be forwarded to the DEC Ukraine appeal fund, and an appeal for supplies saw a minibus with four students and a collection of donations go to the loading warehouse for UKAid a local charity who take supplies out to Ukraine and now Moldova to help refugees.
In addition the Brian Edwards Fund from the Bishop’s Stortford Rotary, set up in memory of great Interacter and local Rotarian Brian, made a generous donation to top-up the school funds.
UK Aid have always worked in Ukraine, helping the children of Chernobyl, but now are supporting all Ukrainian refugees.
Simon Etheridge, Head of Religious Studies and Citizenship commented “Thank you to the school community, especially parents and students, for their wonderful work for this vital cause. Our thoughts and prayers go to all those suffering at the present time and always. Well done to the inspirational Norma Symonds on the vigil for Ukraine she organized locally. We will continue to do such charitable endeavours for good causes locally, nationally and globally.”
