BBC Radio 4’s “Any Questions?” is broadcast live from TBSHS.
Lord David Frost, Bronwyn Maddox, James Murray MP and Steve Richards on the panel
On Friday 7th February we were delighted to host the BBC “Any Questions?” Team as they broadcast the programme live from the TBSHS school Hall.
Over 300 people. students, parents, and members of the Bishop’s Stortford community filled the new school hall as the panel arrived on stage.
Chaired by Alex Forsyth, the panel of Lord David Frost, James Murray MP, Bronwen Maddox from Chatham House Rules Thinktank and political journalist Steve Richards cheerfully and respectfully answered questions on Life after Brexit, Concreting over green countryside and the delights of drinking from paper straws.
It is the third time TBSHS have hosted the programme, but it is the first time from our new school hall.
TBSHS Interact students helped show the audience to their seats and Year 12 student Jamie Boxall, entertained them on piano before the broadcast.
Simon Etheridge, Subject Leader for Religious Studies and Citizenship commented ““It was wonderful to host BBC Radio 4’s “Any Questions?”, first broadcast in 1948, which provided an evening of respectful and current discussion and debate. We were very grateful to presenter Alex Forsyth, and all the BBC production, technical and security teams, who tour the country each week with the programme, bringing the BBC, news and politics to the people, and people to the BBC, news and politics. We were also very grateful to the distinguished panel, the wonderful audience, with community champions representatives, and former staff and students, who gave of their time on an inclement Friday evening. Without the audience, of over 300 people, and their questions, there is no programme. The BBC said they had never received so many questions. The event also could not have happened without many staff and student leaders, including Mr. Conquest and the Politics students, and Interact students, who assisted with such a memorable and inspiring evening.”
