Thought For The Day – Monday 30th June 2025
Support
The word “support” is derived from the Latin “supportāre” which combines the words “sub-” (meaning “up” or “under”) and “portāre” (“to carry” and “to lead”). “Supportāre” can also mean. “foundation”. In Medieval times there was shift to the word meaning “to ensure” also, linking to resilience required of all for support is never easy or straightforward and requires commitment.
Support is at the very heart of T.B.S.H.S. This was seen once again last week.
Thank you to: Mr. Reeve; Mr. Munro; the Senior Leadership Team; the Sixth Form Management Team; all students and staff; Sixth Form Induction was an absolutely brilliant experience at our new school.
Thank you to Year 12 for their outstanding student leadership.
Thank you to Year 11 for their wonderful participation.
Student support of each other and of the School and Staff.
Every aspect of Induction is, and was, essential: every session; every presentation; every conversation; every consideration; every activity; every guide; all the hospitality provided by the Catering and “The Mitre Café” teams; every cover lesson; every car parking attendant.
It took everything. It took everyone’s support.
The jigsaw needs all the different pieces to make the picture.
At the heart of the School is support, supporting each other and ourselves. This was perfectly illustrated by Miss. Butler’s assemblies on the history of Pride last week.
As it was from those students and staff who visited Germany last week and the week before.
As we close this season in style, House Quizzes begin this week and lesson and extra-curricular progress very much continues, preparations are very much under way for next season.
The momentum, and support, with which we finish this season will set the tone for next.
A fabulous event that is superb both for now and for the future, and which epitomizes our “Black, Gold and Green”, and supportive, Ethos, occurs on Friday. Thank you to Mrs. Miles for her leadership of this event. Thank you also to “The Green Team”, led by Mr. Dickens, and the P.T.F.A. All these people and teams do so much so faithfully and selflessly throughout the year to massively enhance the School Community. Details of the fantastic event are below.
Today will be very warm. As Mr. Reeve has communicated, today and tomorrow, students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 students will come to school in Physical Education kit and remain in it throughout the day. Year 12 students can wear sensible and appropriate clothing e.g. Sports kit or tailored shorts and a short sleeved shirt or polo shirt.
Stay safe at all times, keep hydrated and make good decisions, inside and outside of school.
Look after, and support, anyone experiencing, or who has, challenges and vulnerabilities.
Look after others in the community, as well as looking after yourself.
