Thought For The Day – Tuesday 15th July 2025
World Youth Skills Day 2025
.
The future inspires, and drives, the present.
What is your dream for the future?
What are you working towards in the present?
In the daily challenges, opportunities and routines, we do not lose sight of a broader, and moral life vision and journey.
We value others, and ourselves, but deeply reflect on who we want to be.
Everyone has their moment and moments.
Education is its own very present passion and reward.
But learning also gives skills, and attitudes, for the future.
These skills, and attitudes, will be key in future employment and life
And morality and values are the absolute foundation, anchor and compass of such skills and attitudes.
Today is “World Youth Skills Day” (W.Y.S.D.).
This United Nations’ Day, now in its tenth year, celebrates the importance of empowering and equipping young people with skills for their future.
Such skills are a precious gift, second only to the life they are given to.
The theme for 2025 focusses on youth empowerment through digital skills and the appropriate, ethical and safe use of Artificial Intelligence.
This important theme promotes the fair, respectful, responsible and safe use of digital technology for all around the world, breaking down digital divides across the world and fairly, respectfully, responsibly and safely promoting digital technology as a way of tackling today’s challenges and shape a more equitable, peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable future.
And, if we are blessed to have skills in a particular area, skills that have been developed through hard work, honesty and humility, we seek to give such skills to, and encourage and nurture such skills in, others.
The reverse applies. The skills we seek to develop, we learn from others.
Skills are not just for some.
Skills are for all.
