Thought For The Day – Friday 20th June 2025
Stay Safe
The above photograph was taken last evening. Once again, the cleaners were working late, looking after the School. Just as they did at London Road, even after the last day.
The sun is setting on another very important examination season, our first at Beaumont Avenue,
A season is full of twists and turns, challenges and opportunities.
What happens in June matters. As does what happens in every month and week.
The key is we can look in the mirror and say we gave our very best. We left it all out there.
As the examinations are almost complete, we greatly thank: Mrs. Chan; Mrs. Pretious-White; the exam invigilators; the learning support assistants; Mr. Gunn; and Mr. O’Sullivan.
The organization, and administration, of examinations is an absolutely vital, and underrated, role in an educational organization. Every detail needs faithfully and fairly followed. And, today, there are very many hours of such assessments per student, many students and a myriad and plethora of different subject options. It is an intricate process of the greatest respect and integrity. As it must and should be.
Clearly, we are experiencing very warm conditions at the moment. This will be the case this weekend also. Staying safe remains paramount. Including near open water. Make good, safe thoughtful decisions. In person and on-line. Think of your health, and that of your family, friends and community. Keep hydrated. Take things calmly, gently and patiently. Make those safe adjustments.
Check in on others. An older person seemed to be struggling in the heat, carrying his shopping, walking on the path on South Road earlier this week. When asked if he was “o.k.”, and whether he needed any help, he said he was fine and was just having a rest. He appreciated the thought and respect.
Our neighbour is all around us. At every level, we treat others as we wish to be treated. No double standards. No double standard. No circumvention. Fairness and kindness. For all.
There is a world beyond T.B.S.H.S., which, to a certain extent, education, including examinations, prepares for.
We continue to think of all globally, particularly those suffering. The balanced, informative and respectful “Sky News” programme, “The World”, usually broadcast at 9 p.m. each weeknight, and its associated podcast, live from London and around the world, and which we have watched in Citizenship this week, has been very important once again.
