Thought For The Day – Wednesday 8th July 2026
Remembering
Yesterday, London, the United Kingdom, and beyond, remembered.
As stated in this message yesterday morning, the 7th of July 2026 marked the 21st anniversary of the passing from this life of 52 people killed in the terrorist attacks on London of the 7th of July 2005.
Each person a beautiful, inspirational, precious, loving, loved, sacred, and valued human life.
Each person leaving a legacy of eternal light and love.
700 citizens were injured.
Many more were traumatized.
Terrorism is evil, hateful, illegal, immoral, and wrong. All humanity, all people, and all religions are against terrorism.
Yesterday, the Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, laid a wreath at the Memorial Gardens, dedicated to those who lost their lives in the atrocities that day, in London’s Hyde Park.
The Mayor of London was joined by representatives of all the key agencies who were involved in the emergency response at the time.
The wonderful ambulance, fire, and police services were represented. They also laid wreaths.
We continue to greatly thank all the emergency services for all they did, and for all they always do.
On the morning of the 7th of July 2026, the Mayor of London wrote:
“Today we remember the 52 innocent lives stolen, those who were injured, their family and friends and the heroic emergency service personnel who ran towards danger during the shocking 7th of July terror attacks. As we mark 21 years since the appalling attacks on London, our capital city remains strong and united. We must never allow hatred to win. London will always be united against those who try to turn us against each other and peddle extremism. We will always choose hope over fear, unity over division, and continue working together to build a safer, stronger London for everyone.”
Later, after respectfully visiting The Memorial to the Victims of the 7th of July 2005 in Hyde Park, to pay his respects, on behalf of the wider community, the Mayor of London added: “Today, I laid a wreath in Hyde Park to honour the 52 innocent people killed on the 7th of July 2005. We honour those injured, the families who carry the loss, and the heroic emergency responders who ran towards danger that day. London remembers. You will never be forgotten.”
