Thought For The Day – Thursday 27th November 2025
Attitude of Gratitude
Today, and this weekend in the United States of America and Canada, is Thanksgiving.
At Thanksgiving, families come together and people celebrate, and reflect on, who, and what, they are grateful for.
The festival originated in celebrating the harvest. It reflects on the last year.
At T.B.S.H.S., we take this opportunity to greatly reflect, with an attitude of gratitude.
Equally, we also are very deeply conscious of all who are suffering.
At this time, our very deepest thoughts and prayers are with all affected by the fire engulfing public housing Tai Po district of Hong Kong, and all emergency workers responding. This is a tragedy beyond words.
At The Bishop’s Stortford High School, we are certainly most mindful of, and most grateful for, our diverse community of students, staff, carers, and parents.
We are also very grateful for “Our House”, the outstanding “Whole School Production”, photographs from the finale of which are pictured above.
“Our House” was magnificent, memorable, and momentous.
Through dance, drama, music, scenery, setting, and technology, “Our House” was another tremendous triumph for all involved.
“Our House” was an intricate production of commitment, aspiration, respect, integrity, and community with so many wonderful moving parts and a plethora of examples of student leadership everywhere, empowered and nurtured by the staff.
The pace, passion, performance, and poise from all the company was absolutely brilliant, and totally breathtaking.
Inspirationally, this was all founded on so much meticulous planning and preparation from students and staff. The attention to detail was immense, dialogue, music and movement timed to perfection. Actions, music, and words in perfect harmony.
“Our House” was like seeing the greatest band humbly deliver through their art, craft, drama, and music, with further enhancing dialogue and great technical expertise, hit after hit after hit. And, just like that, the production of an effervescent and epic of two hours was over and everyone gave a massively appreciative standing ovation.
“Our House” was such a vibrant, vivid, and vivacious journey through life and love that evoked so many emotions. To quote one of the many marvellous and moving songs, “NW5”, the cast, crew, musicians, and staff “give you everything…for that smile you bring”.
We are so very thankful for “Our House”. “Casey Street” forever.
As we approach our longer weekend, with no school tomorrow and mock examinations on the horizon, we reflect on a saying in American Football, where there are special Thanksgiving games and where many teams, and their coaches, strive to improve and enhance their record, both in their preparation and playing, with a number of seasons “on the line”:
“The season starts after Thanksgiving”.
“Our House” will be our inspiration.
