Thought For The Day – Monday 14th July 2025
Black and Gold Vibes
Our first ever Sports Day at Beaumont Avenue, with our wonderful new Astroturf facility in the background, was such a memorable occasion.
What a 12 months it has been for the School from the last Sports Day.
Thank you to all who organized, participated in, supported and supervised Sports Day 2025.
Owing to the latest heat wave, track events were in the morning, whilst field events were in the afternoon.
Thank you very much to Mr. Hale, and the Physical Education department, for their impeccable organization and supervision throughout the day.
As usual, the Physical Education department, and supporting staff, were there for others in all days, all condition, all seasons and on all days.
Thank you to all staff and students of the School for their leadership.
The respectful silence before the races was very noticeable, as was the very warm (matching, and in response to, the weather) encouragement in the events. Very well done to student supporters in Waytemore, Twyford and Shaw who roared athletes in to and on the “home straight”. Very well done to student supporters in Meads, Dane and Chantry roared athletes across the finish line. You all made a massive difference. Brilliant engagement. People are very proud of their “House”.
Once again, Sixth Form student leaders were key, as they have been throughout the academic year. As were: Ms. Tudo; Mr. Griffiths, Mr. Blake and all Heads of House; technical staff Mr. Barnes Mr. Parish and Mr. Kuan; and Mr. Cooper.
In such hot conditions, there were “cold” performances by all students.
Particularly outstanding performances were given by Mason Sanford and Thomas Magee who broke records of T.B.S.H.S. in the 1500 metres and 300 metres respectively. An amazing achievement, even more so given the conditions.
It was certainly an emotional moment for Year 10 students, in their final Sports Day, and Year 7 students, in their first Sports Day.
As we reach our “home straight” of our academic year and season, we safely sprint through “the tape”, leaving everything out there.
And then we recover, rest and get ready for the next challenge and opportunity.
