Thought For The Day – Wednesday 8th October 2025
Mind Kindness
Friday 10th October is World Mental Health Day.
We will be holding a “Non-Uniform Day” to raise further awareness of mental health.
Thank you to Interact, T.B.S.H.S.’ charity group, and to the Rotary Club.
The price of the day, a suggested voluntary contribution, will be £2. Monies will go to mental health charities to be announced, including “Mind”.
Money should be handed in at Friday morning registration and form time. We will register contributions.
If payment is challenging or difficult at this time, please see your form tutor.
Everyone matters.
Every mind matters.
We need to show the usual high standards on the day, mindful of the cause.
We respect the non-uniform of all.
We respect learning and lessons (bringing the correct equipment and our keys).
We respect the school and community environment.
We respect all students and all staff.
These are the “Black and Gold” standards and values.
No caps or jewellery are allowed. There should be no inappropriate messages on non-uniform. Weather is forecast to be good, therefore no big coats will be necessary, and coats should, as usual, not be worn in class and must be left in lockers. Please do not buy clothes especially for the day.
Mental health involves all of us. We all have mental health. We all have a mind.
We must, therefore, be kind to our mind and we must be kind to the mind of others.
We must not assume or be selfish. We must consider others, empathising and, once again, treating others as we ourselves would wish to be treated. There is no double standard or partiality. We are responsible both for ourselves and others, in person and on-line. Yesterday, thanks to Miss. Butler, in the most important lesson of the year, you learnt further of the importance of online safety. In very many ways, online safety massively connects to mental health.
Even more importantly, we are very mindful indeed that mental health also involves resilient and inspiration people with particular challenges, who we are very mindful of, and dedicate our day to, on Friday 10th October.
Mind kindness.
To ourselves.
To others.
