Careers Workshops
A successful initiative introduced to the careers provision here at the Bishop’s Stortford High School are the lunchtime Careers Workshops for Years 9-13.
We’ve hosted a number of visitors in the last 2-3 years who have presented sessions on their profession and/or roles, along with details of career pathways, training and opportunities. Visitors to date include PHD Architects, Cambridge Intelligence, Price Bailey, Audi, Johnson & Johnson, Tees Law, GSK, The Civil Service, University College London, working in the charity sector and St James Wealth Management – to name but a few.
In an informal classroom atmosphere, a target audience of students specifically interested in a certain career can find out more; subjects to choose at A Level etc. Presenters use a variety of methods to illustrate their talks such as worksheets, Powerpoints, group work etc – all of which ensure our students are engaged and enjoy the workshops.
Following our full-time return to school, I’m delighted that the workshops schedule has resumed and despite the last 18 months, I’ve found that visitors are no less generous with their time in order to support our students, for which I’m extremely grateful.
Do please get in touch if you can contribute to the workshop calendar in any way – I would love to hear from you.
