Thought For The Day – Friday 12th September 2025
Up and Running
Thank you very much for your very positive contributions in our first full week of the academic year.
We hope you have settled into the game, season, term and school year.
We continue to ensure our new students, and their families, and our new staff feel very welcome. We thank them for joining us and bringing their brilliance to our community.
And we know that the present, and future, is built on the past. We continue to thank staff, students and families for their wonderful examination, and wider life and community, contributions in Year 11 and Year 13 last year, our first year at Beaumont Avenue. We remember all who have been part of our school, and life, journey. They will always be with us.
Well done, and thank you, for Standards Evenings. At their very best, schools are a partnership between staff, students and families. These events, which are traditional and essential to our ethos, are a symbol of the professional partnership of the educational trinity. Thank you to Pastoral Leaders, Inclusion Managers and to Mr. Reeve and the Senior Leadership Team, who lead multiple Standards Evenings.
We establish good attitudes, routines and standards early. It really does set the tone for the days, weeks and months ahead. The weeks will fly by. The foundation of, and to, the school year is built now.
Integral to that is the capacity to respond to challenge, and to look after others and ourselves.
We hope you have a good weekend. Thank you to all leading, organising, and participating in, outstanding school sport. Thank you to all who led, and were involved in, wonderful educational visits this past week. Thank you to all so diligently preparing already for another exceptional school musical, showcasing the very best of drama and music. Thank you to the catering, caretaking, cleaning, finance, office, support and technical teams for all they did in the summer and continue to always do.
Life is about honest and humble learning, respect and constant self and social improvement. As a person, and in and with our work, the close of each week provides a chance to take a moment and quietly reflect on our lives and those of others.
Make the main thing the main thing. Appreciate and treasure the moments.
Our values, personal and collective, are our anchor, foundation, guide and inspiration.
Next week will be another important opportunity to connect with, and support, others, develop our skills and demonstrate our values as we all represent The Bishop’s Stortford High School at Prospective Parents’ Evening or Open Evening.
Season 2025/2026 is very much up and running.
It is great to be back.
