Thought For The Day – Tuesday 24th February 2026
The Rainbow Ball
February is LGBTQ+ History Month in the United Kingdom.
In the sport of men’s football, the English Football League are using a “Rainbow Ball” in matches until the 1st of March.
The “Rainbow Ball” is a symbol of unity and pride, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.
This is part of a month of action called “Football versus Homophobia”.
The sports business who created, and produced, the ball, “Puma”, one of many highly respected sports brands in the world today, will donate monies for every goal scored in the English Football Leagues to support programmes that challenge homophobia and promote schemes for understanding and inclusion.
To stand up against one aspect of negative prejudice and negative discrimination is to empower and inspire, and show solidarity with, all examples of negative prejudice and negative discrimination.
The “Rainbow Ball” initiative conveys that football, like life, is, and should be, a welcoming, safe, supportive, and an inclusive, community, and space for all.
At this time, on this day, and beyond, we continue to create a caring, compassionate, giving, just, kind, moral, and thoughtful society, and world.
