Thought For The Day – Tuesday 16th December 2025
Where Love Lives
Our Advent and Christmas Services continue today for Years 7, 12 and 13.
All students should enter Saint Michael’s Church in respectful silence, removing their coats, as Years 8, 9 and 10 did so well yesterday, efficiently making use of all the great and historic space in the church.
At the close of the service, there will be an opportunity to make a donation to the important work of Saint Michael’s Church in our local community.
Thank you to Year 8, 9, and 10 staff and students for walking to Saint Michael’s Church and for greatly participating in the services yesterday. Thank you to all the musicians, singers, and readers in the reflective, and hopefully inspiring, service.
We are very grateful to Reverend Derwyn Williams, vicar of Saint Michael’s Church for his encouragement, leadership, and support of T.B.S.H.S.’ church services. We thank Reverend Williams for his great words of appreciation and support yesterday.
Today, we also very warmly welcome Reverend Tracey, vicar of Saint James The Great Church in Thorley, who, with his son, Isaac, has been a wonderful supporter of The Bishop’s Stortford High School for many years, who will lead the worship.
Of course, all our local churches are open throughout Christmas.
In his thoughtful address yesterday, Reverend Williams, making reference to a popular and recent Christmas advertisement, and its accompanying music, focussed on the theme “Where Love Lives”.
“If you cannot find the words, find the gift”, said Reverend Williams, who articulated that, for Christians, Jesus Christ is The Gift and The Present.
In our community, and indeed in our world, at this time and beyond, the theme of “where love lives” is important both for yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
How does, and will, love live in us?
How does, and will, love live in you?
