Thought For The Day – Monday 7th July 2025
Respect and Remembrance
Another important week commenced for the School with a brilliant “Mitre Run” yesterday, This followed Friday’s wonderful “One Stop Eco Shop”. Today Australian cricketers, from the other side of the world, are playing a T.B.S.H.S. team at Jobbers Wood. On Thursday, we will welcome the Year 6 students, who will be our new Year 7 students in September. Friday sees our annual Sports Day, our first at Beaumont Avenue, whilst the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award students begin their expedition.
We have important guests at T.B.S.H.S. today and tomorrow.
In uniform and conduct, please ensure you exhibit the same high standards as you do at all times and for all our guests. Hold doors open. Allow others to go first. Positively and politely contribute to, and lead in, class, the corridors and the community. Represent yourselves, your families, your communities and the School well. Live out the values of T.B.S.H.S.: Commitment, Aspiration, Respect, Integrity and Community.
Today marks the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in London of the 7th July 2005. 52 people were killed, passing from this life. More than 700 people were injured. So many were traumatized.
The picture below is of the memorial, and the memorial gardens, to this tragedy beyond words. This beautiful and poignant memorial is in Hyde Park, London.
May the victims of these attacks, and all who suffer, and suffered, because of them, through their legacy of love, continue to: stand tall; be remembered; and inspire.
Today, there will be a National Service of Commemoration at Saint Paul’s Cathedral. Respect and remembrance.
Terrorism is evil, illegal, immoral and totally wrong. All communities, peoples and religions are against terrorism.
The 7th July 2005 was a very challenging day at T.B.S.H.S. Students could not call parents as, for safety and security reasons, the mobile telephone networks had temporarily been disconnected. There were no “smart” telephones then.
Today, King Charles III has released a message in honour of the victims, survivors and first responders, King Charles states: “Special prayers remain with all those whose lives were forever changed on that terrible summer’s day”. In his message, King Charles condemns the “senseless acts of evil” of the 7th July 2005 terrorist attacks. King Charles praises the “extraordinary courage and compassion that emerged from the darkness of that day”. As ever, in his statement, King Charles promotes community, goodness, love, respect and unity.
We keep in our hearts, prayers and thoughts all who suffer locally, nationally and internationally.
We pay tribute to all who care about others, safety, security and wellbeing. The 77th anniversary of the founding of the National Health Service was celebrated on Saturday, for example.
We remember and show respect, and stay safe, on-line and in-person.
We spread compassion, kindness, love and positivity.
