Student Council
The student council is comprised of elected representatives from each form in Years 7 – 11, is chaired by students from the Sixth Form and attended by a member of the governing body.
The council meets each half term and debates current issues, highlights student concerns and decides on priorities. The council makes representation to the Senior Leadership Team after each meeting, and the governing body (Welfare committee) once per year.
Achievements
The council’s most notable achievement was to be instrumental in driving the school to change the way students pay for their lunches. The council wanted more choice and flexibility in the amount students can eat during the school day and as a result the school introduced a cashless catering system. More recently the council proposed the initiative to place a recycling bin in every classroom. The climate change and environment committee managed to take this one step further and acquire recycling bins to be paired with every refuse bin in the school. In addition, the Student Council were the driving force behind lowering our meat consumption within school.
