Thought For The Day – Tuesday 3rd October 2023
Saluting Our Sisters
The theme of Black History Month is “Saluting Our Sisters”.
The month salutes and celebrates black women and women of colour.
It makes visible, and pays great homage to, their life-changing, massive and wonderful contributions.
It remembers, and shows solidarity with, terrible, unacceptable and wrong sufferings experienced.
Of course, when we raise awareness of sufferings and triumphs of one group of people, we are making an important point about all people.
Awareness days, months and years begin to redress the balance and address the imbalance. They are important for everyone.
We use our platform for good, to spread kindness, love and respect. We treat others as we would wish to be treated. There is no double standard. There is one standard.
Please make the most of the brilliant opportunity led by Mrs. Ellen and Mrs. Matthau in researching a historical black woman and woman of colour of your choice, and writing a poem celebrating their life and achievements.
