Thought For The Day – Tuesday 3rd February 2026
Hard Yards, Great Rewards
Pictured above: The path to T.B.S.H.S., early Monday morning.
The formal Year 11 and Year 13 mock examinations season has now concluded.
Thank you very much to the examinations and invigilation team for their dedicated, diligent, ethical, and professional supervision.
Thank you to students and staff for their hard work also.
There are two important aspects to these practice assessments.
Firstly, experience of the conditions, duration, format, questions, and timetable, of the examinations.
There will be only one chance per examination paper to get things right in the summer. Examinations will also be very close together.
Secondly, finding out, closing, and eliminating, gaps of knowledge, understanding, evaluation, learning, and preparation. Such honest reflection and responsibility are important life skills.
In the week of “House Darts” at T.B.S.H.S., a few hours before he won his first men’s darts World Championship in 2025, Luke Littler watched back his 2024, where he was defeated, to find out what he needed to enhance and improve.
In all this, we must not forget to love what we do. Love, and passion, for our subjects goes a very, very long way. In this manner, work is enjoyable. We bring our brilliant, and unique, identity to the table, expressing ourselves, and ensuring others can express themselves.
Health, perspective, resilience, respect, and wellbeing is always the foundation.
Ultimately, what matters is what is done each day, and in each lesson, in each year group.
And in each season.
Keeping going, improving, and moving forward in these winter months will ensure Spring and Summer rewards.
Before we reach the home straight, we continue to run the bend, together, to get ourselves into a good position to kick for home.
