Thought For The Day – Tuesday 13th May 2025
Run Your Best Race
Congratulations to Year 9 footballers on winning the County Cup. A wonderful achievement.
Congratulations to the Sixth Form Duke of Edinburgh’s Award students on completing their “Gold” practice expedition.
Thank you to the staff for making the above opportunities happen. Thank you to carers and parents for their vital support.
Life is all about doing, and giving, our best. Running our best race. Running the best race for us as individuals and as a collective.
For, in life, and beyond, everyone’s journey is different for each individual. Everyone has a story. Everyone has a past, a present and a future.
Most certainly, there will be moments of challenge, difficulty, resilience, suffering, tears of sadness and vulnerability. Some have challenges beyond words to describe.
Far, far more so, there will be moments of beauty, empathy, enjoyment, justice, kindness, love, opportunity, memories, positivity, smiles, solidarity, support and tears of happiness. Both for ourselves and others.
Wellbeing is the foundation. We support each other, and ourselves, in this common cause and endeavour. We look after others. We look after ourselves.
Like on Sports Day (the 2024 edition of which is pictured above). Like with examinations. Like with life.
But sometimes we have to lose something to find it. Sometimes we have it be lost to be found.
It is in giving up, and giving back, that we totally and personally gain.
The inspirational moment when Madison Keys, founder of the “Kindness Wins” charity, conquered injury, anxiety and many years of expectation by: working hard; looking “inward” through talking and therapy; “letting go”; being fearless; playing “point-by-point”; trusting her outstanding and world class talent; having the constant support of family and friends; always representing the very best ethics, morals and values on and off the court; and winning a “Major Grand Slam” championship in January 2025: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLHgzih2Q4Y&t=142s
We walk through the door of, and to, our destiny.
Keep believing. In yourself. In others.
