The Final Push

Today is an important day for Year 13 students, who, like Year 11 students earlier this term, will receive their mock or practice examinations at an event reminiscent of Results Day in August
Students will remember waiting in line for their results, opening up the piece of paper, and what they achieved.
The next time this will happen, after today, will be when the results are final and cannot be changed.
With under 80 days to go, including weekends and holidays, until G.C.S.E. and Year 13 final examinations, students, and staff, will be focussed on using time effectively and thoughtfully.
March will be a very important month.
There is plenty of time to continue to make a positive difference if that time is efficiently utilised.
For students it is the first time they have experienced their respective higher-level subjects. Of course, the staff have ran this course and race many times. Their professional advice, expertise, and experience need heeded.
The coaches carefully, and selflessly, prepare the team.
The players take responsibility for their performance before, and during, the game, gaining the rewards, showing respect throughout,
We must always think of carers, guardians, and parents who very greatly support again at this time. They are the unsung heroes of the examinations process too. True supporters through all weathers. We look forward to tonight’s Parental Consultation Evening.
Motivation can come for many sources: from family; from friends; from staff; from pride in performance; from inspirations, visions, beliefs, and role models at home or in society.
As always life is holistic, both in ourselves and with our environment.
Sleep, diet, hydration, talking about concerns, and giving our best, looking after others and ourselves, being a good person, is key.
Mental and physical health and wellbeing are the foundation. We might also add social, moral, cultural, and spiritual wellbeing too.
Progress and process, not perfection. Success is never linear.
And, if people are going through challenging moments, support, taking each day at a time, keeping perspective, and doing our best, is a way through the woods.
Ultimately, in life, everyone’s examination, everyone’s appropriate and respectful journey, and everyone’s gifts, are different, unique, loved, supported, and valued.
And today and tomorrow is built on so very many yesterdays.
The students who receive their results today were once in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and at Primary School, and at Nursery School.
As we grow and flourish, including today, we never forget our roots.
