Thought For The Day – Monday 10th November 2025
“At The Going Down Of The Sun”
Yesterday, Remembrance Sunday, saw a two-minute silence observed to reflect, remember, and respect.
This was led by King Charles III at “The Cenotaph” in London.
Saturday evening saw the broadcast of the always very moving “The Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance” from “The Royal Albert Hall”: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m002m3r4/royal-british-legion-festival-of-remembrance-2025
On all these occasions, and more, including on “Armistice Day” tomorrow, the words from Laurence Binyon’s 1914 poem are spoken:
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
Poppies, in aid of “The Royal British Legion”, are available at T.B.S.H.S. today.
In the third picture above, poppies are projected in Gloucester Cathedral: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/cvgmp32r6yjo
