Student Council
The student council is comprised of elected representatives from each form in Years 7 – 11, is chaired by students from the Sixth Form and attended by a member of the governing body.
The Student Council plays a pivotal role in shaping positive changes across our school community. One of its most notable achievements was influencing the introduction of a cashless catering system, providing students with greater choice and flexibility in how they pay for and access meals during the school day. The Council also championed environmental initiatives, including the proposal to place recycling bins in every classroom. This idea was further developed by The Green Team, resulting in recycling bins being paired with every refuse bin throughout the school. Additionally, the Council led efforts to reduce meat consumption within our catering provision, supporting our commitment to sustainability.
Beyond these successes, the Student Council has contributed valuable input to several key areas of school life. This includes advising on the design and content of displays in the new building, supporting the redistribution of student toilets to improve accessibility, and influencing changes to the enrichment programme to offer an even broader range of opportunities. The Council has also worked closely with the catering team to enhance menu variety, prompted a review and update of the haircut policy, and introduced adjustments to the lunch rota for Year 11 students, allowing greater flexibility for those revising during exam periods.
