The Bishop’s Stortford High School presentsThe 42nd Annual Music Festival

The Music Department are excited to announce that this year sees the return of the TBSHS Music Festival, from 28th February – 9th March, with the finals and Finalé concert taking place on Wednesday 9th March.

All students who play an instrument or sing are invited to sign up for a performance slot at the festival, with the House Music competition won by the house with the most entries and winners combined.

For those of you that have not experienced this before, it is a large annual event involving two weeks of competition to find the school’s finest musicians. We are looking for musicians of every level and every year group to perform a piece of music on their chosen instrument(s).

The competition finishes with our Finalé Concert which will be held in the TBSHS School hall with a guest adjudicator. Winners will be able to see their name appear on the School Honours Board in the hall.

There are three performance categories:

·         Beginner – Grade 0 to Grade 2

·         Intermediate – Grade 3 to Grade 5

·         Advanced – Grade 6+

There are a wide range of classes to choose from, including Strings, Brass, Woodwind, Piano, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, Percussion and Voice.

Please click here to register your interest. You can register on as many different instruments as you like, but only once per instrument. To apply, you will need to know the name and composer of the piece you will perform as your entry to the competition. If you are unsure of what to play, or which category to enter, please talk to your music teacher who will be able to give some guidance. The deadline for entries is 7th February.

Good Luck!

(Acting Subject Leader of Music)
