30th April 2020

Dear Parents/Carers & Students,

Once again, apologies for the disappointing news regarding the cancellation of the work experience programme but I’m sure you will understand why the decision was made; these are such challenging and uncertain times during which we cannot put students at more risk than is absolutely necessary.

Once it is safe to do so, you are encouraged to arrange a placement which must take place during school holidays; it’s vital that students do not miss any school time in order to complete work experience regardless of where or what it is.

When arranging any private placements, it will be informal and voluntary and without the support of our partner organisation, Youth Connexions.  Therefore I would like to share some extremely important considerations.

Please ensure:
1.       The proposed employer holds Employers Liability Insurance
2.       The proposed employer holds Public Liability Insurance
3.       Students must not spend time with a Sole Trader

Youth Connexions will be writing to all employers using the email address you provided on your completed Private Placement Form and will inform them of the school’s decision.  However if you are in personal touch with your son’s proposed employer for 15th-19th June, it would be helpful if you could also kindly let them know of the programme’s cancellation.

If you have any queries relating to work experience, please do get in touch.

With best wishes and do keep safe.

 Yours sincerely

Claire Jonas
