Teacher of Science
Main/Upper Pay Scale + London Fringe Allowance
Required for September 2017
Educating 1160 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a large, thriving co-educational sixth form of 350+ students, including 110 girls. Last year our students achieved 80% 5+ A*-C (Inc. English & Maths), with a significantly positive Progress 8 score at GCSE and 58% A*-B at A-Level, with a significantly positive value added score. We are a heavily oversubscribed school with a strong ethos, based on high expectations and standards for all. Students’ behaviour and attitudes to learning are fantastic and positive relationships between staff and students are based on mutual respect and an extensive and fulfilling enrichment programme. This means teachers are able to get on with delivering high quality lessons and help students achieve excellent outcomes. This has just been confirmed by a very successful Ofsted inspection carried out in March, the report for which will be published in April.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and engaging science teacher to join our fantastic school. The successful candidate will work within an ambitious, vibrant and high performing department to instil a love of science in all students. Multiple A-Level classes in each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics run every year, as well as a Level 3 BTEC science course, and an ability to teach at this level would be expected. The department has a strong track record of producing large numbers of students who go on to study science related courses at university.
The school has a vast range of enrichment activities which include many international trips, cultural visits, first class fixture cards in all major sports, a diverse and high quality music and drama programme, DoE, public speaking, charity work and much more besides.
An application form and further details are immediately available from the Headteacher’s PA, Mrs D Landers, at the school or downloadable from the website www.tbshs.org
TBSHS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of all our children and expects staff to share this commitment. A Disclosure Barring Service check is required for all successful applicants.
