Thought For The Day: Thursday September 3rd 2020

A New Dawn

Welcome back.  We hope you had a good summer.

Thank you for all you are doing, and have been doing, to keep yourself safe and other people safe. In the future, you will tell others of how your helped the world.  It has been and is very, very challenging though. Our thoughts continue to be with those who suffer and serve.

Still stay safe. Keep your standards.  You must wear smart TBSHS uniform and bring the correct equipment.  If you have a Physical Education or Games lesson, please wear your official Physical Education kit. Wear appropriate face coverings on public transport and in shops.  Good hygiene, hand sanitisation and social distancing remains important for yourself and others at all times. You know the drill these past few months. There are sanitising stations and wipes around school but if you can bring your own sanitiser and wipes it helps the whole TBSHS team greatly.

To help with social distancing, you must stay in your “year zone” and “year bubble” and follow “TBSHS’ One Way System” on the site.  Follow the arrows to get to your destination even if it takes you a little longer.  You have to stay in the one way system, like Lewis Hamilton going round a Grand Prix track (but not quite as fast). It helps everyone’s safety and everyone’s step count too!  This is an anti-clockwise system. In some areas of the school (eg the tower blocks, some corridors) it is “two way” because there is only one entrance and exit point.  Staff will guide, but you can take responsibility.  Keep respectful, well-behaved  and appropriately distanced around the site.

Remember we are doing this for others even more than ourselves. That is precisely “The  Black and Gold Spirit.

Global citizenship.

Do your job and do your best as a student in and out of class, following teacher guidance, and the academic progress in your lessons will occur. The process leads to the result. Love your learning.  Remember the core habits of responsible learners which are integral to “The Black and Gold” – be pro-active, be resilient, regularly review work, listen carefully and respectfully to others and collaborate to everyone’s mutual benefit. Keep reading and challenging yourself too. Events of 2020 have reminded us what is important in life, and school is definitely one of those things.  Note that it is estimated that 90% of the world’s school-age children and youth have had their education disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Talk if you have any worries.  Think of others on-line and off-line. If you are  little nervous, about the past, present and future, you are definitely not alone. We are on this journey together. If you miss someone, be inspired by them.  We got this. You got this. We will take each day at a time.

Well done to Year 7 and Year 12 today. You led the way.

We control what we can control.  We find the positives. The bigger the challenge, the bigger the response.
