Cambridge calling for Tom and George

Year 13 Cambridge Offer Success

 

Two TBSHS Year 13 boys have received conditional offers of places at Cambridge University to start in October this year.

The offers are -

Tom Horton, has an offer to study Geography at Fitzwilliam College and needs to get A*, A, A in his A levels of Geography, Economics and History.

George Crimes, has an offer to study Modern and Medieval Languages at Churchill College and also needs A*, A, A in his A Levels of French, German and History.

The achievements of this talented duo are not only academic: Tom is Head Boyand has been very involved in the music department (jazz and rock bands over the years). He has also done public speaking for the School and has been in Youth Speaks and the ICYD (International Competition for Young Debaters.) 

George is a member of the Sixth Form Council, a representative of the cross-country team, and has recently set up a volunteering programme for Sixth Form students in lower school French and German lessons. George also works at a local vineyard and a gymnastics club in his spare time.

Fiona Price, TBSHS Oxbridge Co-ordinator, commented, “I am delighted for Tom and George that their talent and exceptional hard work have resulted in these prestigious offers.   Alongside the range of academic support provided by our staff through the curriculum and our Post-18 support initiatives, they have also exploited numerous enrichment opportunities, such as involvement with societies, external speakers, summer schools, and wider reading, to develop their knowledge and curiosity.  I look forward to them obtaining the grades required to secure their places.”
