Nine TBSHS Sixth Formers, led by Alfie Aylett have drawn and painted a stunning mural in the TBSHS Turing Computer suite. (Click on the photograph to view in closer detail.)

The artists are - Hannah Ahmed, Georgia Bryson, Euan Caton, Zoe Endean, Harry HewittSophie Lloyd-Rossi, Libby Slow, and Molly Tatam with Alfie Aylett as the organiser.

Everyone in the group is an A Level Art student, except Euan, who came in specially to add The Mitre logo.

Mr Stark approached Alfie to find out if the team would like to do a mural, and after a bit of discussion and organising, the team started work in early November.

The entire mural took over 15 hours to complete with the artists working in teams of three at any one time, including during their free lessons.

The group chose a Bob Ross picture (Sunset Aglow) to reproduce as it was one image they all agreed on and they just enjoyed the image.

The work is painted in acrylics, supplied from the art department, and the team used their own wall brushes.

The only thing left to complete,  is to give the entire piece a protective topcoat of enamel as Alfie comments that it would be nice to hope that it stays in-situ for at least as long as the science mural (which is getting on for 20 years old.)

Mr Rob Stark, Head of Sixth Form said ‘I tasked Alfie Aylett to come up with a mural for sixth form study area. Inspired by the works of Bob Ross, Alfie and his team spent several days developing the mural and bringing this piece of Art and our study area to life. This was a great student-led initiative and I look forward to witnessing more student art developing within our Sixth Form.’
