With the design stage for the new school well underway, The Bishop’s Stortford High School is launching a public consultation this week. The consultation will be about the sale of the existing London Road site, including all school buildings and playing fields. This formal consultation follows previous consultations regarding the School’s move to the new site in the Bishop’s Stortford South development zone and the expansion of the school to 6 forms of entry (180 students per year). The proceeds of the sale will be used to fund the school’s relocation.

Headteacher, Dale Reeve, said of the proposed move: “We’re making excellent progress in the design stage and are beginning to see the plans for the new school taking shape. We have a fantastic opportunity to utilise a substantial grant from central government, support from the county council and the full proceeds from the sale of our current site, to build a superb new facility that will benefit our students and numerous community organisations for many years to come.” Having already held a public exhibition in July, the school will be seeking views from all local stakeholders, councils and community groups. The outcome of this consultation will be shared with the Department for Education in support of the Governing Body’s formal application for consent for the disposal of the current site.
