It was lovely to speak to lots of students last week about their different experiences on international school trips over the half-term holiday. With trips visiting Austria, Poland, Russia, Switzerland and New York there were so many great opportunities for them to appreciate different cultures, face new challenges and learn a bit about their own character.
Given that we have had quite a weather-affected football schedule so far this term, it was great to see such an impressive fixture card against Brentwood school at the weekend. With all the pitches full at Jobbers Wood and just as many matches taking place away from home, a very impressive total of 250 boys represented the school. An excellent performance from the students and a fantastic effort from the staff to make it possible.
This half-term we will be placing a significant emphasis on students proofreading their own work. It is important for them to care about the quality and clarity of their work and not be satisfied with simply getting it finished. Teachers will be expecting students to show they have proofread individual pieces of work before submission, which should produce a higher standard of work as a result. Parents will certainly be able to support their children with this.
Finally, with the students having just completed their stakeholder survey in the last few days, it's now time to collect parent views. All parents should receive an email link to an online survey tomorrow (1st March) and I'd be really grateful if you could take the time to provide us with your valuable feedback on the all-round quality of provision your child(ren) receive at TBSHS. If you haven't received an email by midday on 2nd March please contact the school office.
