I'd like to wish a very warm welcome to all those joining our TBSHS community for the first time this year. We've had a very positive start to the new term with Year 7 and 12 students looking smart and ready for action. It was also great to welcome back the rest of the school, who are hopefully raring to go, after the long summer break.

With the Year 7 Meet the Tutor Evening, the beginning of the rugby season and auditions for this year's show the new students and their parents had a busy first week.

With the temperature now a lot cooler than we experienced at the end of the summer term, we obviously expect students to be correctly wearing their full uniform. Expectations remain the same for Years 7 to 11 and an update on the Sixth Form dress code expectations can be found in the parental bulletin issued on Wednesday 5th September.

As you may have seen in the press or elsewhere on our website, we were very pleased with both the A-Level and GCSE results our students received in August. 87% of all GCSE grades were passed at grade 4 (C) or higher and 35% were passed at grade 7 (A) or higher. Given that nationally boys are significantly outperformed by girls at this level, these results are even more impressive. At A-Level a quarter of all grades were achieved at A or A*, with some incredibly impressive individual performance leading to students heading off to some of the very best universities including Oxford and Cambridge.

I hope that parents are finding our 'MyEd' app a useful way to stay connected and communicate with school on a number of issues. If you haven't downloaded it yet, it can be done so for free on both the Apple and Android platforms.

The inaugural Mitre 10km race on Sunday 30th September is set to be another great event in our school calendar. There is still time to enter and for those not planning on running there is an opportunity to offer your services as a marshal for the morning. You can register your race entry via the school website or contact the school office in avdance, if you are able to help out in some way on the day.

I wish all our students and staff the best of luck for the year ahead.

Regards,

Mr Reeve
