Sixth-formers present Cheque to Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.

The Bishop’s Stortford High School’s student INTERACT charity raised a fantastic £1095 from their recent Showcase variety show for the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance

This week charity representative Jennie came into school to receive a cheque for £1095 for the Air Ambulance Charity.

The students themselves chose the charities to support this year when planning their annual Showcase variety fundraiser

Showcase is an annual event at TBSHS and has raised thousands of pounds for many different local charities over its 18 years.

Over 50 students took part in the show either on stage, backstage or as part of the organising team.

On Tuesday charity representative Jennie, came in to speak to the sixth form and explain some of the work the Air Ambulance does and how it is a charity and not government funded so must raise money to continue its work. The cost of each flight is £2000 and it costs £500,000 per month to run the whole service, which can be called out up to three times each day.

Special mentions go to the outstanding team of: James Nash, Julius Field, Field, Poppy Laurens, Max Hunt, Charlotte Brown, Thomas Woods, Laura Skinner, Emma Flodman, Yvette Agyirimarti, Elle Cook, Julia Sokol, Ella Monk and Mr Turone. Thank you also to the magnificent Year 10 Dream Team once again and to Elliot Sanfillippo, Jay Williams, Mitchell Farquharson and James Knudsen who gave of their time and quality, in their exam year, to provide world class performances. It was Jay's 5th Showcase.

Simon Etheridge, Subject Leader for Religious Studies and Citizenship, and lead teacher for INTERACT commented; “Showcase made memories. We are super grateful to the beyond brilliant student leaders who organised, performed and volunteered so wonderfully at Showcase.  Without these students, the show would not have happened. We are also very grateful to all the fabulous audience who made the Show.  Showcase raised a great sum money for Essex and Herts Air Ambulance on the Thursday and Sport Relief on the Friday."
