Forgetful students

Developing responsible learners

I thought I should explain the reason for our current approach to parents bringing in items of equipment, books, lunch etc for their son or daughter.

We really want to discourage this from happening, as we aim to get students to take responsibility for organising themselves properly and not to rely on the safety net of a parent bringing things to school later in the day. You would be surprised at just how often it happens. In addition, every time we interupt a lesson to inform a student that an item has been left it causes disruption to learning.

Therefore, we are adopting a policy of not accepting such items from parents, to help the students realise the need to prepare appropriately for each school day. I do apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you in the future, but feel sure it is very much in the long term interests of all our students and their development.

Regards,

Mr Reeve
