The end of term approaches

We've just served Christmas dinner to around 830 of our students and staff this afternoon, which created a lovely atmosphere in the school hall. It was a big operation, but our catering team pulled out all the stops and, with a bit of help from some of the other staff, produced a lovely experience for the students. If the Year 7 talent show that followed in the Sports Hall is anything to go by, the future high quality of Showcase is very much secured. This year's Showcase kicks off this evening (15th Dec) at 7pm, with an even bigger crowd expected for tomorrow night's show.

Our annual rugby dinner on Saturday was very well attended by students - past and present, staff, parents and friends of the school at the Bishop's Stortford golf club. We celebrated the much onfield success experienced this year and congratulated those boys whose commitment and performances deserved a special mention, including Tyler Ackerman-Mond, who was rewarded with an honours cap for his willingness and commitment to school sport throughout his time here, including helping out with training sessions for the younger students.

Parents are warmly invited to join us at St Michael's church for one of our three Carol Services, the times of which are: Friday 16th December 2016, 2.30pm - Year 12 & 13

Monday 19th December 2016, 9.20am - Year 9 & 10

Monday 19th December 2016, 2.00pm - Year 7 & 8

We are very much looking forward to our Awards Evening on Tuesday, where we'll be reflecting on the achievement of the last 12 months and celebrating the achievements of our students. Our guest of honour this year is BBC newsreader Huw Edwards, who makes a welcome return to the school.

We will finish the term with our Final Assembly for the whole school on Wednesday, with the students heading home for the holidays at 12.30pm.

I do hope you will take the time to read this term's Mitre newsletter to get a feel of just how much has been achieved in the last four months.

With all good wishes for Christmas and the new year.

Mr Reeve
