Mitre Friends & half-term trips

Providing opportunities for our students

A quick note to thank those parents who attended the Mitre Friends launch event in January that we were able to combine with an update on the plans for the school move. We talked about the vital importance of raising additional funds, to ensure we can continue to provide the truly all-round education and vast enrichment programme for our students. We will of course update parents when we reach the next milestone in our redevelopment programme, which will be the decision on the release of the land from the greenbelt. I must also thank Countryside Properties, who provided their exhibition of the plans for the whole Bishop's Stortford South development.

I wish good luck and a safe journey to all students and staff venturing across Europe on one of the many residential trips taking place over half-term. We have two separate ski trips for Year 8 and 9 students to Austria, a Year 11 History trip to Belgium & Berlin, an A-Level Physics trip to the large hadron collider on the Franco-Swiss border and a group of mainly Year 12 students heading off to Krakow in Poland, which includes a visit to the Auschwitz concentration camp. The variety of trips will provide many different experiences and challenges for the students concerned and I'm grateful to all the staff involved for making it possible.

Regards, Mr Reeve
